Stofeksim suspension

Cefixime is a third generation oral cephalosporin.

Every 5 ml of the finished suspension contains:

  • Cefixime USP (as Trihydrate) eq. anhydrous Cefixime 50 mg;

Stofeksim is active against most strains of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. Stofeksim is indicated for the treatment of the following diseases:

  • pharyngitis, tonsillitis and sinusitis;
  • acute bronchitis and exacerbations of chronic bronchitis;
  • otitis media;
  • uncomplicated urinary tract infection;
  • uncomplicated urethral and cervical gonorrhea;
  • bacterial gastroenteritis.

Adults: the recommended dose of Stofexim is 400 mg per day. This dose can be taken as a 200 mg suspension every 12 hours.

For the treatment of uncomplicated urethral or cervical gonococcal infection, it is recommended to use Stofeksim at a dose of 400 mg orally once.

Children: aged 6 months to 12 years weighing less than 50 kg, the drug is prescribed as a suspension at a dose of 8 mg/kg body weight 1 time per day or 4 mg/kg every 12 hours. Children weighing more than 50 kg or over 12 years of age should receive the dose recommended for adults.

In the presence of impaired renal function, Stofeksim can be prescribed as follows: creatinine clearance dose 60 ml/min standard dose (400 mg per day). 21–60 ml/min. 75% of the standard dose (300 mg per day). 20 ml/min. half the standard dose (200 mg per day).
