Albendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic.

Each chewable tablet contains:

Albendazole USP 400 mg.

Albalens is used for helminthic infestations, incl. nematodes:

  • neurocysticercosis caused by the larval form of the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium);
  • echinococcosis of the liver, lungs, peritoneum, caused by the larval form of the canine tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus); as an adjuvant in the surgical treatment of echonococcal
  • cysts;
  • ascariasis;
  • trichocephalosis;
  • hookworm disease;
  • enterobiasis;
  • necatoriasis;
  • strongyloidiasis (strogyloidiasis);
  • opisthorchiasis;
  • microsporidiosis;
  • toxocariasis;
  • giardiasis;
  • mixed helminthiases.

Inside, after eating. Chew the tablets before swallowing. Daily dose – 400 mg (at one time), for children – 6 mg/kg. The use of laxatives and a special diet are not required.

The dosage of Albalens is determined individually.

Use of the drug in children over 2 years of age and in adults:

For hookworm, ascariasis, enterobiasis, necatoriasis, trichinosis in children over 2 years of age and adults, 400 mg (1 tablet) is prescribed 1 time per day for 3-5 days;

For taeniasis, strongyloidiasis and hymenolepiasis in children over 2 years of age and adults, 400 mg is prescribed (1

tablet) 1 time per day for 3 days. In case of confirmed hymenolipedosis, it is necessary to repeat the course of therapy after 21 days;

For clonorchiasis, opisthorchiasis, mixed infestation of Chlonorchis sinensis and Opisthorchis viverrini, children over 2 years of age and adults are prescribed 400 mg (1 tablet) 2 times a day for 3 days;

For the treatment of giardiasis in children from 2 to 12 years old: Albalens is used 1 tablet (400 mg) 1 time per day for 5 days.

In the case of systemic helminth infestation, the dosage of Albalens depends on the patient’s body weight, the type of parasite and the severity of the disease.

For cystic echinococcosis, for patients weighing more than 60 kg, the drug is prescribed 400 mg (1 tablet) 2 times a day. The course of treatment is 28 days. If the patient’s weight is less than 60 kg, then it is prescribed at the rate of 15 mg/kg per day (divided into 2 doses). The maximum permissible dose is 800 mg per day. If necessary, carry out 3 cycles of treatment at intervals of 2 weeks.

For alveolar echinococcosis, 400 mg (1 tablet) is prescribed 2 times a day for patients weighing more than 60 kg.

3 treatment cycles of 28 days are recommended, with an interval of 2 weeks. For patients weighing less than 60 kg, it is prescribed at the rate of 15 mg/kg per day (divided into 2 doses). The maximum permissible dose is 800 mg per day.

If necessary, therapy can be continued for several months.

For infestation of Cutaneous larva migrans (cutaneous migratory larvae), Albalens is prescribed 400 mg (1 tablet) for 1-3 days.

For the treatment of neurocystercicosis, 400 mg (1 tablet) is prescribed 2 times a day for patients weighing more than 60 kg.

The course of therapy depends on the result and can last from 1 week to a month. For patients weighing less than 60 kg, it is prescribed at the rate of 15 mg/kg per day (divided into 2 doses). The maximum permissible dose is 800 mg per day. The therapy cycle can be repeated after 7-14 days.

Adults and children with capillariasis are prescribed 400 mg (1 tablet) once a day for 10 days.

Adults and children with gnathostomosis are prescribed 400 mg (1 tablet) once a day for 10-20 days.
